SOMERDALE, N.J. — Flying Fish Brewing recently released Onshore Lager, a 4.9% ABV crisp, clean lager that includes the recognizable imagery of a “dune crossing” on the can and a promise to donate to clean water efforts. Today, on World Oceans Day, they’ve announced a portion of the sales of Onshore Lager will go to New Jersey-based Clean Ocean Action, an organization that’s dedicated to the quality of the marine waters off the New Jersey coast.“Onshore Lager was brewed as a tribute to the beautiful waterways that surround our home, and we specifically wanted to capture that feeling of relaxation on the shoreline with this can,” states Lou Romano, President of Flying Fish. “We also are concerned about protecting that environment for generations, so we’ve committed to work with Clean Ocean Action to help contribute to their ongoing efforts to protect our coast.”Clean Ocean Action was formed in 1984, successfully advocating to close all ocean dumpsites in New Jersey. Since then, through scientific research, education, policy, and citizen action, COA has done extraordinary work to ensure safe swimming waters, reduce marine debris, and fight offshore oil and gas facilities. In addition to the donation, Flying Fish employees will participate in “Beach Sweeps” in September to pick up trash and debris, led by the COA team at Sandy Hook.

“It will be a great day for our team to physically give back to the place that provides us with so much enjoyment,” says Romano. “It’s a day we’re all looking forward to.”

About Flying Fish Brewing:

The employees of Flying Fish enjoy the great outdoors with family and friends, and they want to ensure the beauty endures for generations to come. That’s why Flying Fish is not only committed to brewing high-quality beers, but we also practice sustainability and care for the environment throughout the process. As the region’s most sustainability-focused brewery, 463 solar panels help with our electricity needs, 19 solar tubes in our warehouse reduce the need for artificial lighting, recaptured steam in the brewing process minimizes water waste, and rain gardens on site prevent erosion. And spent grains? They go to local farms with happy cows. Want to learn more and see us in operation? Visit us Wednesday – Sunday in our Tasting Room and try our award-winning beers!
