Brewmaster Named for Egg Harbor Township’s Newest Brewery

Hidden Sands Brewing Company Welcomes Brewmaster with Impressive Resume

EGG HARBOR TWP. (October 25, 2017)
– Hidden Sands Brewing Company is excited to welcome Luke Lindsey; brewmaster, who will oversee production at what will soon be Atlantic County’s newest brewery.  Lindsey brings more than a dozen years of brewing experience to the Washington Avenue facility.  He has brewed and served as brewmaster at popular craft breweries such as Victory, Southern Tier, Lagunitas, and most recently North Country.  He also worked for Sam Adams as a brewing supervisor, overseeing a staff of 60 employees.  In addition to having extensive experience with making and producing beer, Lindsey is also a chemist and will also work in a brewery’s lab.  The brewer’s lab is essential in producing quality and consistent beer, and is something not typically found in smaller craft breweries.

Lindsey will focus on the core brands that veteran brewer, Mike LaRosa, established for Hidden Sands Brewing Company, as well as developing some of his own brews from his vast experience. The styles of beers will appeal to a wide-range of palates, the key ingredient in all the beers is the same – pristine water from the “800 Foot Sands” aquifer, which is estimated to be aged 20,000 years.  This is the origin of the name Hidden Sands.

Another key component that will set Hidden Sands apart is its sophisticated brewing system.  The Siemen’s Braumat fully automated, oversized 20 barrel 4 vessel system is very rare and will allow the brewery to consistently produce the same quality beer repeatedly. The initial styles they will produce with this system are as follows:

800 Foot Pils
ABV: 5.5%
Style: Keller Pils

A delightful pilsner brewed with German Pilsner Malt hopped generously with a blend of Hallertau and Tettnanger hops.  Bright, crisp and refreshing. Set to highlight the delicate water that is the 800 Foot Sands Aquifer that Hidden Sands draws its water from.

Sandy Blue Pale Ale

ABV: 4.8%

Style: Culinary Pale Ale

Brewed with pilsner malt, malted and flaked oats as well lactose sugar.  Light bitterness but hopped heavy handedly with Mosaic and conditioned atop New Jersey Blueberries and light cinnamon.  Modeled after a freshly baked Blueberry Donut.

Pump Handle

ABV: 5.5%

Style: Honey Wheat Ale
Brewed with Pilsner Malt, Red Wheat, and White Wheat.  Hopped lightly with hallertau. Heaps of New Jersey Honey are added to the whirlpool.  A crisp golden ale with subtle herbal and floral notes.

First Drop

ABV: 6.0%

Style: Breakfast Style Baltic Porter
Brewed with German Pilsner, Dark Munich Malt, Oats, Chocolate Malt, Dark Torrefied Wheat, and a blend of Caramel Malts.  Brewed with a special blend of Dark Grade Maple Syrups.  Conditioned atop New Jersey roasted coffee beans. Decadent, dark, and roasted.

Unfathomable Depths IPA Series:

In an ever diversifying craft market, Hidden Sands will be on the precipice of diversifying their IPA line up. These three IPAs will rotate in an effort to allow for a diverse draft list at both HSBC and the many emerging craft beer bars. These IPAs will be named after the depth samples taken during the original drilling of the well for Hidden Sands Brewing. Each sample taken showed a different mixture sand and gravel types. We aim to highlight the well and the samples that were taken.

107 Foot IPA

ABV: 7.5%

Style: West Coast IPA
Availability: Year Round Rotating
Brewed with Pilsner Wheat, Spelt, and light caramel malts. Hopped with Citra, Centennial, and Columbus. Seasonally brewed with New Jersey pine barren needles. This IPA will be very pine focused with mild fruitiness. A modern interpretation of a West Coast IPA.

447 Foot IPA

ABV: 6.8%
Style: North Eastern Style IPA
Availability: Year Round Rotating

Brewed with Pilsner, Carapils, and malted oats. Hopped excessively with Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Amarillo. Modeled after the ever popular “New England” IPA. A hazy juice bomb, filled with a plethora of tropical citrus flavors.

608 Foot DIPA

ABV: 8.5%

Style: Double IPA

Availability: Year Round Rotating

Brewed with Pilsner, Caramel 50, Rye, and Flaked Oats. Hopped with Amarillo and Centennial. A sturdy double IPA with balanced bitterness, malt sweetness, and piney flavors.
