ZED’S BEER NAMED NJ BREWERY OF THE YEAR
Awarded Two Gold Medals at 9th Annual New York International Beer Competition
MARLTON, NJ – March 5, 2020 – Zed’s Beer/Bado Brewing was named New Jersey Brewery of the Year at the New York International Beer Competition. The brewery also took home two gold medals: Zed’s in Ireland—Dry Irish Stout in the Classic Irish Stout category, and Zed’s in the Universe—Pale 42 in the American Pale Ale category.
Now in its ninth year, the New York International Beer Competition (NYIBC) tasted more than 600 beers from 14 countries and evaluated them in 30 different categories. The beers were reviewed by a judging panel made up of restauranteurs, cicerones, sommeliers, retail beer buyers, distributors and importers. Beers were judged based on category and price.
“We’re honored to be recognized as New Jersey’s brewery of the year after only two and a half years in business, and to have two gold-medal-winning beers at this competition,” said Geoff Bado, Zed’s Beer Founder and Head Brewer. “The NYIBC is known for its competitiveness and we are proud to be in good company in New Jersey, nationally and internationally.”
The two gold-medal-winning beers are among Zed’s four core beer varieties and patrons can find them on tap regularly in the tasting room, located at 19 North Maple Avenue in Marlton, New Jersey. The brewery recently doubled their production from five to 10 barrels, and typically has up to 12 beers on tap, as well as a selection of refreshing shandies and radlers hand-crafted by co- founder and brewer Lori White.
New to the lineup this month is the addition of Zed’s on the spritZ, hard spritzers. “Hard seltzers and hard spritzers are becoming tremendously popular and fit perfectly into our Approachable Craft philosophy at Zed’s Beer,” said White. “The first variety, Zed’s on the spritZ—Dragonfruit Ginger, was just introduced and so far, the reviews are great,” White added. “We are already working on additional flavors.”
