Slack Tide Brewing Announces Expansion to 10BBL System this Spring!

|

Slack Tide Brewing Company’s first 16 months since opening have been very eventful.  They won the Philadelphia Brew-vitational for Best New Beer with their Bell Buoy Belgian Blonde Ale, a Best of the Rest mention in Joe Sixpack’s Beer of the Year column for Bell Buoy, and a Bronze Medal in the Best of Craft Beer Awards for Knockdown, their American-Style Black Ale.  This is quite an accomplishment for any brewery, especially a small, three barrel brewery located in Cape May County, NJ.

The Brewery’s Co-Founders, brothers Jason and Tadhg Campbell, live by the philosphy that they will “Create a diverse and high-quality line of beers made with all natural ingredients sourced locally whenever possible” which figures prominently in their mission statement.  On the day I visited, the brewery had just released Southern Ground, an almost wholly New Jersey sourced Pale Ale using Cascade Hops locally grown in West Cape May that were harvested and  dried in-house, along with grains that were locally sourced from Rabbit Hill Farms in Shiloh, Salem County.  Jason told me “it is important to us to use local ingredients, that is why we have it in our mission statement”.  Other recent locally sourced products include Blackberries from Matro Family Farms in Hammonton, NJ used in their Blackfish American Wheat,  Black Aronia Berries from Jalma Farms in Ocean View, NJ used in their Red Drum American Wheat, and Sweet Potoatoes used in their Linesider Spiced Ale.

Almost immediately, Slack Tide’s tap room became one of Cape May County’s communal meeting places, lots of familiar faces, to go along with the many new, who are coming to try the award winning brews that are on tap. Slack Tide has also hosted many charity events, a food drive, and are always quick to do what they can to help the local area. sense of community was exactly what the Campbell Brothers were going for, and they have succeeded in a big way.  The brother’s commitment to the local community is evident when you walk in.  Walk in, take a tour, grab a beer and you feel like you have been part of their family for years.

Which brings us to today’s announcement that Slack Tide Brewing Company will be more than doubling their capacity to be able to bring more people their award winning beers.  This is remarkable growth, going from a half-BBL system to a 10BBL system in such a short time is a testament to the quality of not only the beer, but of all the people at Slack Tide Brewing Company.

From today’s Press Release:

We’re Growing!
Very excited to announce that we’re growing and upgrading our brew house from a 3BBL to a 10BBL system this Spring. This takes us from a capacity of 600BBL of beer per year to 1600BBL. We’ll keep you posted as we progress through the transition. Really can’t say enough how much we appreciate the support from our Slack Tide friends and family that has helped us get to this point. Thank you.

Jason and Tadhg Campbell, Co Owners

Congratulations and continued success to The Campbell Families as they continue to grow and make great beer!  Cheers!
