Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. Wins Gold Medal at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival

‘Croydon Is Burning’ Smokes the Competition in Denver

CROYDON, PA (SEPTEMBER 16, 2021)Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company was awarded a Gold medal at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival® (GABF), North America’s largest and most prestigious beer competition. Presented by The Brewers Association, the GABF recognizes excellence in the United States craft beer industry. In the 35th edition, medals were awarded on September 10th at the Bellco Theatre in Denver – 170 judges evaluated 9,680 entries from 2,192 breweries.

Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. was awarded the top prize in the Smoke Beer category for its ‘Croydon is Burning’ – a Bamberg-style smoked lager. This marks the third time this beer has earned a medal at the GABF. ‘Croydon is Burning’ was previously awarded a Bronze in both 2017 and 2016. Neshaminy Creek has also been recognized for its ‘Churchville Lager’ with a Gold medal in 2013 and a Bronze in 2016.

“What an unbelievable honor to be awarded a Gold medal at the GABF for a beer I care so much about,” said Jason Ranck, Head Brewer of Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. “‘Croydon is Burning’ was the first commercial recipe I had the opportunity to create back in 2016 and was the style I brewed the most in my backyard before I became a professional brewer. I’m so proud of our entire team to be able to make beer at this level and am so excited about what we are going to do next.”

‘Croydon is Burning’ is currently available in cans and on draft at both of Neshaminy Creek’s retail locations in Croydon and New Hope, PA. The smoked lager also had limited distribution in the Philadelphia region via the brewery’s wholesaler, 31st & Wharton, and was included in Neshaminy Creek’s latest Variety Pack.

Neshaminy Creek is proud to carry on the tradition of brewing world class lagers in the Philadelphia area where the nation’s first lager was brewed in 1840. The passion and reverence for these styles have earned the brewery the nickname ‘Lager City’ and the production team is looking forward to further exploring the category.
