Assemblymen Joe Howarth (R) and Wayne P. DeAngelo (D) introduced bill A-4594 to the state today that “amends current law to authorize certain activities in which the holder of a limited brewery license is permitted to engage”. The bill was referred to the Assembly Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations Committee.
This bipartisan bill is the first legislation that has been introduced in the wake of ABC Director Rible’s Special Ruling on Limited License Breweries that was announced, and later suspended pending further study. This bill aims to eliminate the tour requirement and allow the owners of a limited brewery license to hold an unlimited amount of on-premises and off-premises events without obtaining a permit from the ABC. This proposed legislation would also allow the sale of water, soda, and unprepared snacks and will allow a brewery to coordinate with a food vendor to provide food on the premises along with the ability to provide menus to consumers.
